Oracle for CYPRESS
Corporate Information Solutions was
tapped by Cypress Semiconductor Philippines, Inc. (CSPI)
to undertake the implementation of Oracle Financials,
Purchasing and Inventory. The Oracle software was
implemented using the Applications Implementation
Methodology (AIM) and CSPI achieved a more efficient
migration and implementation, higher reliablility, and
lower cost. The CIS project team, composed of
experienced consultants, was instrumental to
implementing the major Oracle functionalities that
helped improved CSPI's critical processes.
CSPI is a private
corporation with corporate headquarters in San Jose,
California, USA. It is a state-of-the-art design,
assembly and test facility for packaging, testing and
marking of IC's. CSPI complements an assembly and test
facility in Indonesia which supports the mother company,
an international and broad-line manufacturer and
supplier of integrated circuits for a range of growth
markets.
CSPI has been using Oracle Applications
Release 10.7 (Financials and Purchasing) with the server
based st its mother office in San Jose, California. The
Philippine office, however, have acquired licenses for
Release 11.0.3 of the same product suite with the
addition of Oracle Discrete Manufacturing. Through the
upgrade to Release 11.0.3 in a Sun Sparc Solaris server,
CSPI was able to implement Multiple Reporting Currency,
online requisitioning, and online approval for
purchasing documents. Through the implementation of
Oracle Inventory, CSPI improved their inventory
monitoring system and more importantly, there is now a
direct link with the financials system.
The implementationof the Oracle solution
in CSPI improved the quality of management information
available to decision makers. It now integrates the
company's core business processes, including accounting,
inventory control, purchasing and financial operations.
Plans are now underway for the implementation of the
other modules in the Discrete Manufacturing suite to
improve the manufacturing process and fully complete the
Oracle solution, as the company embarks on establishing
a regional office here in the Philippines.
