Oracle for Nextel
CIS and Oracle Philippines embarked on a partnership to bring the Oracle solution
to Nextel Communications Philippines, Inc. Nextel wanted to further improve its
responsiveness to customers and to optimize global operations in support of its
aggressive growth. CIS offered the Oracle solution and CIS’ Oracle Applications
Implementation Services.
Nextel Philippines is a private telecommunications provider that operates an
integrated digital enhanced network (IDEN) and a nationwide paging network.
It provides mobile communication services and is a strategic partner of Nextel
USA.
Using Oracle’s Applications Implementation Methodology (AIM), CIS helped
Nextel achieve faster project implementation, higher reliability, and lower cost.
It was apparent that only experienced consultants could be tapped to do the
implementation and undertake the major challenge of enhancing or replacing
Nextel’s mission-critical applications.
The Oracle solution for Nextel now integrates the company’s core business
processes, including accounting, sales order management, inventory control,
purchasing and financial operations, enabling the company to focus on continued
sales growth in IDEN technology.
The implementation of the Oracle solution improved the quality of management
information available to decision makers. It also clearly improved inventory control,
thus eliminating potential delays in delivery of the phones. With an efficient order
management system, Nextel now continues to improve customer satisfaction and
delivery of services. Furthermore, the initiative to integrate the Oracle solution with
Nextel’s existing Billing System proves to add to the telecom firm’s competitive
advantage.
